The CMS Health Plan moved to Molina: what happens to my child's ABA?

Short answer

Since October 1, 2026, Molina Healthcare runs the CMS Health Plan instead of Sunshine Health. AHCA says members moved automatically, with no new application, and benefits stay the same. Existing prior authorizations are honored, and during a continuity of care period your child can keep seeing the current ABA agency, until late May 2027 at the latest.

What is the CMS Health Plan?

It is the Children's Medical Services plan for children and young people under 21 with special health care needs that require extensive preventive and ongoing care. Molina says it has two versions. If you do not pay a monthly premium, your child is in the Medicaid version (Title XIX). If you pay a monthly KidCare premium, your child is in the Title XXI version, and not all Medicaid information applies; ask the plan how it handles ABA.

What happens to my child's ABA?

AHCA says existing appointments, prescriptions and prior authorizations are honored. Its alert to providers says the continuity of care period lasts up to eight months: until May 31, 2027, or sooner if your child's new care plan is finalized and services are authorized. AHCA's sample letter to families says May 30, 2027, so check the date on your own letter.

During that period your agency can keep serving your child even if it does not work with Molina. Ask your agency now whether it will work with Molina after the period ends.

Do I need to do anything?

Not if you want to stay: the move was automatic. If you prefer another plan, the Medicaid version can switch to another SMMC plan through Choice Counseling (1-877-711-3662), and the Title XXI version to a Florida Healthy Kids plan through KidCare (1-888-540-5437). First check that your ABA agency is in the new plan's network. Note that AHCA warns Florida Healthy Kids does not cover ABA, not even during the continuity period.

Who do I call?

  • Molina CMS Plan Member Services: (800) 262-0750 (TTY 711), Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. They can also connect you with your child's Care Manager.
  • AHCA's Medicaid helpline: 1-877-254-1055, if you have trouble getting services.
  • If Molina denies or reduces ABA hours, see our pages on appeals and on lost hours.

Does Paramount Behavior serve the CMS Health Plan?

Yes. Paramount Behavior serves Children's Medical Services Health Plan families in Palm Beach County today, in English and Spanish. If your child is new to us, call (561) 421-0047 so we can check the plan before you start.

Do I need to reapply for the CMS Health Plan?

No. AHCA says members moved to Molina automatically, with no new application.

Did my child's benefits change?

No. AHCA says benefits and covered services stay the same during the transition.

What if my agency does not work with Molina?

You can stay with it during the continuity of care period. If it does not join Molina's network, ask Molina to help you find an in-network agency before that period ends.
